This week, we’re bringing you an exceptionally family friendly city, outside of the hustle and bustle of Phoenix.  Just to the west of Phoenix, we’ve got an amazing city that is growing by the day.  Goodyear, Arizona, is an attractive city located in the southwestern part of the Phoenix metropolitan area, offering a pleasant mix of suburban living and access to urban amenities. Goodyear, Arizona neighborhoods are modern, full of amenities, and very family friendly. With a growing population, the city maintains a friendly and community-oriented atmosphere, making it a great option for those considering relocation. The city of Goodyear is slightly removed from the Phoenix valley. However, that is exactly what Goodyear residents are looking for. Goodyear is also located in Maricopa County and has a population of 80,371 people. Which as you can tell is noticeably less than many of the other cities we’ve discussed. Due to the large amount of open space and the relatively low population in Goodyear the city offers a sparse suburban feel. Most residents own their homes in this city as well. With 77% of people living in Goodyear being homeowners and 23% of residents being renters. The median household income in Goodyear is $83,866. The median home value in this city is $477,800. So, slightly below the averages in some other cities within Arizona. The average monthly rent in Goodyear, however, is pretty standard for most Arizona cities resting at $1,775 per month.

 

 

 

GOODYEAR,  ARIZONA CRIME AND SAFETY

 

The city of Goodyear holds some top spot rankings in Arizona. Most notably, Goodyear is ranked #15 for Best Suburbs for Young Professionals in Arizona out of 57 suburbs. But besides that Goodyear has a few other stand out rankings. For example, Goodyear is ranked #10 for Most Diverse Suburbs in Arizona out of 57 suburbs. So, even though the city is slightly removed from the more centralized Phoenix valley you’ll still get a nice mix of people from different backgrounds as well as people of different age ranges. Not to mention, Goodyear is ranked #15 out of 57 suburbs for Suburbs with the Best Public Schools in Arizona.

 

Crime and safety in Goodyear is very promising. With their crime rate averages falling far below national averages all across the board. Using the same statistical measurement as used above (calculated annually per 100,000 residents) Goodyear’s average robbery rate is 22.3 while the national average for robbery is 135.5. When it comes to motor vehicle theft Goodyear is also below the national average. With Goodyear’s rate sitting at 125.4 and the national average being 284. For assault, Goodyear has a crime rate of 139.5 compared to the national average rate of 282.7.

 

 

 

 

GOODYEAR, ARIZONA SCHOOLS

 

When it comes to schools Goodyear has a number of good options. However, Goodyear is not necessarily a standout school district compared to other cities in Arizona. Nonetheless, if you’re looking for some public school options in Goodyear then be sure to look into BASIS Goodyear Primary School. This school has an A+ grade and is ranked #15 in Best Public Elementary Schools in Arizona. Also, be sure to consider University High School. This school has an A grade, a 27 to 1 student-to-teacher ratio, and is ranked #26 in Best Public High Schools in Arizona. Goodyear does not have any highly graded private schools in the district. However, if you’d like to place your children in a private school then West Valley Christian School and St. John Vianney Catholic School are some suitable options.

 

 

 

 

GOODYEAR, ARIZONA ENTERTAINMENT

 

The city of Goodyear has many outdoor activities available for nature lovers. One of the most beautiful destinations is the Estrella Mountain Regional Park. This park spans 20,000 acres and showcases desert, mountain, and wetland ecosystems and environments. In this regional park,  you’ll also find 33 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails. Not to mention the Golf Club of Estrella which’s also located in these mountains. The course winds through the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Estrella Mountains. This course has been ranked as one of the state’s top 20 public courses by Golfweek magazine.
